Role Overview, Responsibilities, and Qualifications
Position Summary
The Church Musician is responsible for providing musical leadership and accompaniment for worship services and some church events. This role enhances the spiritual atmosphere of gatherings through music, supports congregational singing, and collaborates with clergy and other staff to create meaningful worship experiences.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and perform music for regular worship services, including hymns, anthems, and contemporary selections.

Select appropriate music in consultation with the worship leader to reflect the themes and liturgical calendar.

Communicate with the appropriate Committee to ensure the proper care and operation of the musical instruments.

Participate in creative planning for worship and special programs.

Collaborate with other ministry leaders to integrate music into church activities.
Qualifications

Proficiency in playing piano, keyboard, and/or other instruments commonly used in worship.

Experience with accompaniment is desirable.

Knowledge of a wide range of sacred, traditional, and contemporary Christian music.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Flexibility to accommodate the church’s worship style and schedule.

Commitment to the spiritual mission of the church.

Prior experience in a church or worship setting is preferred.
Working Conditions

Per-service hours primarily on weekends and evenings.

Occasional extra hours for seasonal events or rehearsals.
Reporting Structure
The Church Musician reports to the Ministry & Personnel Committee with additional interaction with Worship Service leadership plus the Spiritual Leader.
